1. Where, exactly, is Splintyr? Splintyr is the fifth planet in the solar system of the star Eltanin (Gamma Draconis). Eltanin is a 2.2 magnitude yellow giant class K5 star about 110 light-years away from Earth and approximately 95 light-years from the star Alpha Draconis, Thuban. Thuban is, of course, the system that contains the planet Daralain, home of Lakota ;} 2. Can I use/adopt any of the Schattarneki that I find around the site? Absolutely not. The Schattarneki around the site are NOT up for adoption, nor are the images available for your own personal use. The only Schattarneki that you are allowed to have on your own personal sites are the ones you actually hatch from eggs that you adopt. 3. Can I trade/give my Schattarnek to my friend? Although this makes me feel a bit like I'm running a Pokemon site, yes, you may. PLEASE e-mail me first so I can update the Guardians page, though. Also, do not use this as a tricky way to get yourself a Regal. You have to redo your webpage before you're allowed to trade or receive a traded Schattarnek, and if it's not top-notch, the Schattarnek will go onto the Abandoned page for someone else to adopt. 4. Can I draw a picture of my Schattarnek/one of the ones on the site? Yes, you may. If you'd like, you can even e-mail it to me and I'll put it in a special Guardian Gallery. :} You may also post your own fan-art in your own art archives or on your webpage, but you must add "Schattarneki are © Splintyr.com" to the description of the picture. 5. Why didn't I get the Schattarnek color/breed that I requested?! Well, I've stated right on the Adoption page that not everyone will get the exact breed of Schattarnek that they request. There are a limited number of eggs per clutch, and only Guardians who make an effort to make a nice webpage for their Schattarnek will be considered. For Regals, only the best of the best are selected as Guardians. If you really want a Regal, I recommend making a very nice site and then crossing your fingers. Also, you will not be able to request specific colors or markings on your Schattarnek. I will ignore all messages that say things like "I want a blue-and-fuchsia tiger-striped Schattarnek!" If you really, REALLY must have a Schattarnek of a particular color or pattern, search the Guardians List for a similar creature and ask their Guardian if they would breed their Schattarnek to yours. You may get offspring that are colored to your liking :} 6. Can I start my own pack/webring for Schattarneki? This is a two-part answer, kind of. Splintyr is a member of the Kshau Protectorate Nexus, which is a ring of dragoning sites. Because the Nexus already has its own Yahoo! Group and forum, I don't really think further webrings and such are necessary for the Schattarneki :} Additionally, Schattarneki are not exactly "pack"-oriented animals. They are of human-level intelligence, and live in nuclear or extended families similar to those of humans. You may form your own "family" of Schattarneki if you would like, but all of the creatures involved will have to take on the same surname. So no, you can't have "The Summer Flame Pack", but you CAN have "The Hzik'naar Family". Just let me know if you are forming one so I can put a link on the Guardians page! 7. Why is the site called Splintyr? Why the funny spelling? Because funny spellings are cool and eye-catching. As for the name... Splintyr is the name of the planet that Schattarneki evolved on. It's also the nickname of one of the dogs I used to have. She was an Australian Shepherd/wolf mix named Split, and I used to call her "Splitter", and eventually I started calling her "Splinter". I had her from the time I was two years old until I was eighteen. She was by far the best dog I have ever had. You can see a picture of her here :} 8. Will you draw a special picture of my Schattarnek and its mate/best friend/offspring? This depends on a few things. If you would like to commission a full-color, detailed picture of your Schattarnek, you can have a look at the Store page to see my commission rates. You would actually get the physical copy of the picture in the mail, plus a scanned image e-mailed to you that you may post on your Schattarnek's page. I can also draw a special picture and get it made into a t-shirt, mouse pad, coffee mug, etc. for you. This might get a little pricey, though. Unfortunately, I can't do free request pictures or "art trades" because I really do not have the time. Splintyr is a fun little side project of mine, and any commissions I do get from it will help pay the web hosting bill :} If you have something else in mind that isn't covered in the Store, let me know and we'll definately work something out. As a side note, the "Elder" stage of your Schattarnek, which you must request from me, is free. However, this comes with the stipulation that your Schattarnek can never return to "adult" age. While they get a cool custom-drawn graphic and pose, they can no longer breed and will remain Elders indefinately. 9. Why did my Schattarnek show up on the "Abandoned" page? Can I get them back? Please note that I have stated on the Guardians page that I check EACH and EVERY link on that page at least once a week, sometimes every other day if I have time. I check to make sure that the Guardian has updated their Schattarnek's page with the proper growth stage, and that the link isn't outdated or broken. If I happen to get a "404: Page Not Found" error of some sort, I immediately e-mail the Guardian asking if they have moved their Schattarnek's page, or if some sort of mistake has been made (i.e., I spelled the URL wrong while inputting it to the page.) If I have not heard from the Guardian in one week, I check the link again. If it is still down, I "take back" the Schattarnek and place it in the Abandonment Center, where another Guardian may adopt it. If the original owner happens to e-mail me about it before another person can request to adopt it, they can have their Schattarnek back. Be warned, however, that if their link is ever broken/wrong again and I am not notified, they will lose their rights to their Schattarnek forever, and it is unlikely they will ever be allowed to adopt another one in the future.
