In the central chamber, Kilara is busily scribbling away at a stack of adoption forms, muttering to herself as she writes to hopeful guardians informing them on whether or not they will be allowed to take an egg. Several small gellicks, semi-intelligent blob-like creatures that are native to Splintyr, slither and cavort around the chamber. Occasionally one bounces onto the desk and Kilara brushes it away, mumbling something about not being able to play right now. A lone, long-legged Schattarnek wearing a red collar pads silently into the area, stares at you briefly, and then walks off through one of the archways.

After standing politely for a few minutes, you clear your throat to get Kilara's attention. Immediately, the Cuil-Alluidh's doglike head snaps up and she smiles at you, a bit embarrased. "Oh, hi there!" She leaps up from her desk as you approach. "I'm terribly sorry I didn't notice you come in. How are you? Did you get a chance to look around the caves and learn about Splintyr and the Schattarneki? Yes? Great!" She wags her tail, and the movement knocks over a stack of papers on her desk. "Whoops! I'm so clumsy... and all this paperwork to get through! I definately need an assistant." She winks at you, and then rapidly cleans up the fallen papers. "Anyway, are you ready to adopt an egg of your own?" She claps her hands happily when you nod. "Excellent. There are just a few things you need to read over... and agree to... and then you can go and speak to my pack-sister Kaere and fill out the adoption form that she'll give you." She points to one of the archways, which is labeled "Adopt/Nests". Meanwhile, Kilara is digging through the paperwork, and she pulls out several sheets of paper stapled together. "Here we go. I know these rules will probably seem pretty simple and maybe a little stupid to you, and they're certainly tedious to read! But Kaere said it's very important that we at least have you look over them, for our safety, your safety, and most importantly, the safety of the Schattarneki." She hands you the papers. "Just read them, if you don't mind. Let me know when you're through, and I'll check on the status of the eggs for you." She wags her tail once more, then retreats to her chair once again to leave you to read in peace.

Greetings, Traveller of Worlds. I am Kaere, Chief Guardian of the realm of Splintyr, and I welcome you here. However, there are several very important rules that you must follow in order to be allowed to become a guardian to one of the most unique creatures available on the Web. These are simple enough rules to follow if you are kind and respectful.

1. Images - The dragon images are hand-drawn and hand-colored by me. I ask that you do not steal, alter, or re-post the Schattarnek graphics from this site. This also applies to the images you may receive from me if you are given an egg---you MAY upload them to your webpage, but you MAY NOT alter or resize them in any way. Do not claim my graphics as your own. Do not change the Schattarnek slightly and claim them as your own unique creature. Do not use any of my graphics, text, layouts, or ideas/creatures without my express written permission. This site and its entire contents are protected by international copyright laws, and anyone who breaks those laws can be prosecuted to the full extent of those laws.

2. Reporting Theft - If you see any website that IS using stolen/altered graphics, or is offering their Schattarnek for sale or trade (which is also not allowed), please report it to me by e-mailing Splintyr@gmail.com or by contacting me via the "contact Kaere" page. You will be rewarded, so keep an eye out for art thieves.

3. The dragon's "home" - You must, of course, have a webpage for your Schattarnek to "live" on. Now, I'm not expecting anything super-fancy or something with Flash movies all over it, but I would like at least a background and some readable text, even a bit of story or roleplaying, to explain the presence of your egg / Schattarnek ON your page. I don't discriminate prospective guardians based on website quality, with the exception of Regal Schattarneki. Because Regal egg clutches are so few and small, they go to the most thorough, creative "homes". Also, your webpage shouldn't have too many other cyberpets on it, although Schattarneki will gladly get along with a few. As for what IS required on the page, see rule #5.

4. Websites - The only host sites that are unacceptable are Neopets pages, MSN personal pages, Expage, internet clubs or internet community pages, or any other "pre-generated" pages. Many of those sites don't allow you to upload images to them, and in general I just don't like them. Free hosts such as Geocities.com, Angelfire.com, Tripod.com, TopSite.com, or ZeroCatch.com are perfectly suitable.

5. Bonding - Schattarneki, like many other dragon species in the Nexus, can and do bond to characters. When applying for an egg, you will be asked if you would like to submit a Guardian for bonding. Having a potential Guardian will make it more likely that you will receive an egg. You can have a bit of a story for the Guardian, such as why they're visiting Sitheil Tirean, etc., but I really only require a "stat sheet". (Examples here and here) A Schattarnek WILL double-bond, but only if the character's existing bondmate is all right with it.

6. Naming - The name of your Schattarnek is entirely up to you, although each Schattarnek should actually have two names: one in Schinterel, their native language, and one of your own choosing. I will assign them each a Schinterelese name when they hatch, based upon their markings or personality, or other attributes. For example, the Schattarnek who guards the nests and eggs here on Splintyr is called Triad, but his Schinterel name is Ahsz'Teas, which means "Strong Chain". You may also make up your Schatternek's Schinterelese name as well, if you wish. Simply read the language rules on the "Culture" page or choose words from the language listing.

7. Linking - You must link back to Splintyr.com, somewhere on the page that your Schattarnek lives on. You may do it via a text link (http://www.splintyr.com) or by using one of the myriad of linking buttons we have here. If you've made a linking button of your own that you would like me to put on the button page, please e-mail it to me!

8. Abandoned Dragons - The timing for a Schattarneki's growth-cycle is fairly specific. Adoption signups begin on a certain date and will end on another day, usually a week or so later. Egg images will be sent out on the closing-date. You will have ONE week from that date to post your egg's image on your website. One week later, the hatchling images will be sent. You will have TWO weeks to post yours, after which the adult images will be sent out. If at any point you are more than one week late to post any of the images, your Schattarnek will be considered "abandoned" and will be put up for re-adoption on the "Abandoned" page. If you are having trouble of any sort, whether it be real-life or computer-trouble, just let me know and I'll give you a time-extension.
9.Updates - Clutch/hatching updates will be posted to the Kshau Yahoo! Group and the Nexus forums, so I recommend joining/monitoring either... or both!

((Please note: egg levels will be low for the first few clutches, as I need to see how much work I can handle.))

Regular Eggs: 10
{Sire: Unknown / Dam: Unknown}
None of these dragons count as siblings.
Regal Eggs: 5
{Sire: Unknown / Dam: Unknown}
None of these dragons count as siblings.

Kilara sticks her face into your view. "Are you all ready? Have you read all the rules and looked over the available eggs? Go on through that arch there, then, and speak with my pack-sister Kaere about applying for an egg!" She waves one fur-covered hand towards another arch and returns to her paperwork.
